About

These sacks have been  hand woven, mostly from home spun vintage linen hemp. Hemp  softens and lightens with age and washing. These sacks date from the early 1900s to about 1940.  The cloth is fantastic and  the sacks are full of character. We have a large number in stock not all of which are  shown on our website. Please email us for particularVintage grain sacks come in a variety of weaves and stripe colours.  The stripe indictaed to the mill the owner of the sack, ensuring that the milled grain was returned to the correct owner. Some of these sacks also have beautiful hand embroidered monograms. It seems incredible to us now that such work went into creating  such an item.
