These grain sacks have many uses from upholstery, to bath mats , blinds, laundry bags, table runners, bolster cushions… the list goes on. Vintage  grain sacks make fantastic floor or bench cushions. 

About

Vintage linen grain sacks come in a variety of weaves and stripe colours.  The stripe indicated to the mill the owner of the sack, ensuring that the milled grain went back to the correct owner. Some of these sacks also have beautiful hand embroidered monograms. It seems incredible to us now that such work went into creating  such an item.

Hungarian linen is world renowned  and highly sought after for its  They are hand woven, mostly from home spun vintage hemp. Hemp  softens and lightens with age and washing. These sacks date from the early 1900s to about 1940,  the cloth is fantastic and  are full of character.  We have a large number in stock not all of which are  shown on our website.
