Slubby, vintage linen grain sack, Rasberry stripes on a porridge/ oatmeal background.  There are two of these available

Junegs7a has a small hole near the top of the sack

Junegs7b has  a seam at the base of the sack so is formed of 2 pieces of fabric of 129cm hand stitched together.

Hungarian linen is world renowned  and highly sought after for its quality.  

All of our sacks have been laundered and are in excellent condition

Uses

These grain sacks have many uses from upholstery, to bath mats , blinds, laundry bags, table runners, bolster cushions… the list goes on. Vintage  grain sacks make fantastic floor or bench cushions.  We can provide fillers to fit your grain sack

About

These sacks have been  hand woven, mostly from home spun vintage linen hemp. Hemp  softens and lightens with age and washing. These sacks date from the early 1900s to about 1940.  The cloth is fantastic and  the sacks are full of character

Vintage grain sacks come in a variety of weaves and stripe colours.  The stripe indicated to the mill the owner of the sack, ensuring that the milled grain was returned  to the correct owner. Some of these sacks also have beautiful hand embroidered monograms. It seems incredible to us now that such work went into creating  such an item.
