The fabric was painstakingly home woven. These grain sacks have many uses from upholstery, to bath mats , blinds, laundry bags, table runners, bolster cushions… the list goes on.  

The sack is one continuous piece and hand stitched at the sides, if you open it out you will have over 2  metres of lovely cloth. This vintage linen sack has been washed and is in excellent condition.

Vintage grain sacks come in a variety of weaves and stripe colours. They are  hand woven mostly from home spun vintage hemp. Hemp  softens and lightens with age and washing. These sacks date from the early 1900s to about 1940,  the cloth is fantastic and  are full of character. We have a large number in stock not all of which are  shown on our website.
